Job Summary

Under basic supervision, the Multi-Service Clerk provides customer service and general assistance to customers in person, electronically and over the phone. Collects and processes a variety of paperwork and payments and maintains accurate records of all transactions.

Job Responsibilities

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

Answers and screen phone calls or electronic requests; provides information or redirects call to appropriate parties; greets walk-in visitors responds to inquiries and provides directions as needed.

Assists customers with filling out and completing paperwork; collects, reviews, and processes documents and forms; may collect payments for fees and fines.

Files documents and maintains accurate physical and electronic filing systems. May ensure accurate indexing of documents.

Receives, sorts, and distributes mail; may maintain a log of all incoming certified or traceable mail.

Prepares and processes checks and payment stubs for remote deposits for motor vehicle and property tax payments.

Provides confidential records to requestor upon completion of privacy request forms.

Processes security interest notation and cancellation manually and electronically.

Transfers certificates of title manually and electronically attaching the appropriate brand, security interest, odometer and ownership information.

Demonstrates the ability to exemplify, by his/her actions, the County PRIDE philosophy.

Performs related duties as assigned.

Standards for Initial Consideration

Education, Training, and Experience Guidelines:
High school diploma or GED equivalent; AND one (1) year of previous clerical experience; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Knowledge of:
General office practices, procedures, and equipment.

Customer service principles, practices, and etiquette.

Records maintenance and retention policies and procedures.

Iowa Administrative Code/Motor Vehicle Code

Skill in:
Problem solving issues utilizing related manuals.

Handling cash and making correct change; balance cash drawer.

Complete basic mathematic calculations.

Typing and entering data with speed and accuracy in office specific software programs.

Balancing a cash drawer.

Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships.

Communicating effectively verbally and in writing.

Physical Demands and Working Environment:
Work is performed in a standard office environment.
May be required to lift and move objects weighing up to 40 pounds.
