A print disability is a learning, physical, or visual disability that prevents a person from reading conventional print. As many as fourteen percent of students in local schools have some kind of documented print disability. The Scott County Library System wishes to expand access to all learners and is working to increase the collection of audio, large print, and graphic novels available. Thanks to a 2023 American Library Association Libraries Transforming Communities Grant, we are able to provide more materials for and about learners with print disabilities.

Celebrate National Book Month and the importance of reading, writing, and literature with the Fall Reading Challenge!
Read a book or at least 20 minutes daily and track your progress during October for a chance to win a prize pack. Paper logs are available at every SCLS branch. You can also participate online using the Beanstack website or download the free app.

Adopt an Author is a new optional way for you to support the Scott County Library System. You can select one of our Best Seller Club authors to adopt, and you will have the option to be FIRST on the waiting list. The donation amounts are based on the annual publication rate of the author and the average price of items. This allows us to try out new and different authors, while still providing many copies of the old favorites.
