Do you love reading graphic novels? Join us each month to chat about a featured graphic novel or two, craft, play games, & more! For September, read any new-to-you graphic novel and bring it to share with the group.

Bring a blanket or lawn chair and enjoy a free, live concert!
Free activities include pumpkin painting, harvest games, face painting, petting zoo, and more!
Snap a photo with the Fall photo backdrop, wander through the StoryWalk, enter to win guessing contests, and play lawn games!
Hot dogs, burgers, chicken sandwiches, beverages, and desserts will be available for purchase--you can even order to-go.
All proceeds support the Summer Reading Program.

The Friends of the Eldridge Branch are partnering with Scratch Cupcakes to sell a variety of cupcakes (6 pack) and edible cookie dough (4 pack)!
Sales start September 22 and close on October 11. Delivery will be October 23.

There is a reading crisis in the United States, with as many as 40 percent of kids unable to read at grade level. Factors such as increased screen time, shortened attention spans, poverty, and the COVID-19 lockdowns play a role; however many of these factors can be mediated by systematic phonics instruction. (Phonics is learning the sounds of letters and letter combinations and being able to break down (or decode) words based on these sounds).
