Youth Justice & Rehabilitation Center staff reviews each resident’s health status upon intake. The purpose for this review is to identify medication needs and problems that need immediate medical attention. Within seven days of intake, a physician performs a more comprehensive health assessment on each resident who has not had a comprehensive health assessment with the year.

The Youth Justice & Rehabilitation Center provides medical treatment for any illness or injury that come to staff member’s attention during the resident’s stay. Medical status information is only shaed with the resident’s caseworker and parents/guardian.

The Youth Justice & Rehabilitation Center is equipped with an examination room and first aid medical supplies. The Center also has an on-call psychologist for suicide assessment services and counseling for residents. The Scott County Health Department provides monthly classes to the residents focusing on Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD) education and conducts voluntary STD tests for all residents.
