Reading Colors Your World

Let reading Color Your World this summer during the 2021 Summer Reading Program! All ages are encouraged to sign up for this challenge. Be creative, try new things, explore art, and find beauty in your world through virtual (both live and pre-recorded) and outdoor events, guided reading lists, and monthly challenges.

Design your own challenge and fit reading into your summer schedule. Complete a combination of reading, activities, and events to earn prizes! Any reader who finishes 15 days of reading, participating in activities, or attending events in June will receive a free book and entries into the June grand prize raffles. Finish 15 more days in July and get another book and more raffle entries. Don’t miss out on our finale event--a Glow in the Dark Movie night on August 2nd sponsored by our friends from DuTrac Community Credit Union. Visit the calendar for more information on summer events.

Participate online, on paper, or both!

Events & More-

Stop by the Eldridge branch’s Reading Garden for in-person outdoor events like Artopia, a weekly party where everyone is an artist as we create using different mediums and techniques. Join fellow bibliophiles of all ages for the Walk and Talk Book Club, where we take a short walk through the community before stopping for snacks and discussion as a group. Check out a Playaway or download an audiobook, and then join us! Chalk the Walk, Giant Games, Tie-Dye parties, storytimes, and more start in June.

Each week also brings a new wave of color to every Scott County Library branch in the form of screen-free take-home crafts based on a color theme, kicking off with “Rainbow Week.” Plus, look for pop-up activities like outdoor look & finds, coloring contests, guessing jar games, and more!
