Promotional Ceremony

Roloff

On Friday, October 12th, the Scott County Sheriff’s Office held a Promotional Ceremony at the Sheriff’s Office. Deputy Eric Roloff was promoted to the rank of sergeant.

Eric Roloff is originally from State Center, IA where he graduated from West Marshall High School.  After High School he attended Mt. Mercy University where he graduated with a BA in Criminal Justice.  After graduating college in 2003, Eric joined active duty in the U.S. Army.  He served in the U.S. Army from 2003 to 2009 and served two combat tours in Iraq.  He received three Army Commendation Medals, eight Army Achievement Medals, a Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal, Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, and a Combat Action Badge.  Eric was also selected as the Non-Commissioned Officer of the Year. 

Upon returning from his second tour in Iraq, Eric was honorably discharged from the Army and hired by the Scott County Sheriff’s Office in 2009.   Upon completion of the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy and a Field Training program he was assigned to third shift and second shift patrol until 2014 when he was selected for assignment with the Quad City Metropolitan Enforcement Group (QCMEG).  While assigned to the QCMEG he worked hundreds of illegal narcotics cases on the state and federal level.  He was also involved with operations targeting human trafficking.  His service at the QCMEG earned him several commendations and recognition.  At the end of Eric’s assignment to QCMEG in 2017, he was selected to work in the Scott County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division where he has been successful in the apprehension, arrest and prosecution of a variety of criminal cases. 

Over the course of his career Eric has obtained several certifications.  He is certified as a Field Training Officer (FTO), Firearms Instructor, Rifle Instructor, Armorer, Narcotics Officer, Clandestine Laboratory Site Safety Officer, Desert Snow Criminal Interdiction Officer, Bus and Parcel Narcotics Interdiction Officer, SWAT Officer, Crime Scene Investigator, Interview and Interrogation and Professional Leadership Development.

Eric and his wife were married in 2009 and have two young children.
