Iowa State Association of Counties Logo
The Iowa State Association of Counties (ISAC) is a private, nonprofit corporation whose members are county officials and employees from the 99 counties in Iowa. ISAC has established scholarships which are funded by the ISAC Education Foundation. In 2017, ISAC awarded six $2,500 scholarships, six $1,000 scholarships, and one $2,500 past president scholarship. The scholarships go to high school seniors who are the children of county officials and county employees. ISAC has had a scholarship program for about 18 years. All of the scholarship winners are recognized at a ceremony that takes place every year as part of the business meeting at the ISAC Legislative Conference. Deadline for entries for the 2018 ISAC Scholarships is December 8, 2017 and Scholarships will be awareded during the ISAC Legislative Conference General Session on March 15, 2018.

You can use the money you’ve set aside to pay for medical expenses not covered by insurance, such as copays for office visits & prescriptions, vision expenses after insurance including Lasik, and dental care or orthodontia (both preventative and restorative) after insurance. Some over-the-counter expenses that qualify (unless reimbursed by insurance) include: diabetic supplies, contact lens solution, denture adhesive, personal test kits, blood pressure meter, adhesive or elastic bandages, and thermometers.
