“Organ Donation for Trauma & Critical Care Providers”

Intended Audience:  Genesis Medical Center physicians, Quad City area physicians, nurses, PA, NP, healthcare personnel, EMT pre-hospital care personnel, IL PT/PTA, OT/COTA, respiratory therapy, social workers, and affiliate hospitals are invited to attend.

Purpose:  This presentation will focus on responding to and evaluating hospital patient referrals for the potential of organ/tissue donation.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

At the end of the conference attendees will be able to: 

1. Develop positive relationships with hospital partners.

2. Evaluate hospital patient referrals for the potential of organ/tissue donation.

3. Provide grief support utilizing therapeutic interventions with individuals and families through end-of-life decisions.

4. Discuss how to accurately obtain authorization for donation and medical/behavioral history of potential donor.

5. Develop and maintain hospital policies related to organ donation, brain death declaration, and the organ donation process.

6. Conduct educational presentations and donation updates for hospital personnel.
