The Scott County Health Department (SCHD) is excited to partner with Scott County Kids and other community organizations to host a community baby shower on Saturday, August 24, 2023, at the TMBC Lincoln Center (318 E 7th St, Davenport) from 1 to 3 PM.

The event is free and open to new and expecting families. Attendees can receive pregnancy and birth resources and can connect to representatives from Hiney Heroes, Iowa Total Care, Molina, Scott County Kids, the Lincoln Center, and Wellpoint. Additionally, door prizes, games, and a photo station will be available.

August 1 – 7, 2024 is World Breastfeeding Week.

Iowa offers the Healthy and Well Kids in Iowa (Hawki) health insurance plan for the uninsured children and teens (ages 1-18 years) of working families. Many working families qualify. With Hawki, no family pays more than $40 a month, regardless of how many children they have. Some families on Hawki will pay nothing at all.

Food safety, an essential aspect of public health, helps prevent foodborne illnesses. Our Environmental Health Specialists conduct food inspections for over 850 licensed facilities in Scott County

Routine health screenings and exams, mental health support, and care for health needs are all key to feeling healthy. Still, people who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer/questioning, intersex, or asexual (LGBTQIA+) may put off or even skip getting the care they need and deserve.
