5th Annual Monarch Migration Fun Run

Join the Wapsi Staff for its 5th Annual Monarch Migration Fun Run benefiting the Friends of the Wapsi Center. It is a 5K self timed trail run, with the run starting at 9:00 am. Check in starts at 8:30 am. Registration includes a t-shirt & refreshments.

Registration closes on September 13th. Must register by August 24th to be guaranteed a shirt.

Cattail Duck Decoy Workshop

Body: 

Join Naturalist Mike for a lesson on cattails. Learn about the biology and cultural significance of the marvelous cattail plant an then create a life sized cattail duck decoy. There is a workshop fee of $10 per decoy for materials and supplies. Spots are limited.

Forage to Fork

Body: 

Come learn about the many wild edibles in your own neck of the woods. We will focus on foraging basics, foraging safety, identifying plants, and preparing wild edibles. We will take a hike outdoors to identify and forage some of the summer wild edibles available during this time. After the hike, put your cast iron skills to the test and make a lambs quarter patty topped with mushrooms our of our forage ingredients over a campfire!

Natural Health & Home Products

Body: 

Come join Wapsi River Center staff and learn to become more sustainable by creating your own health and home products made with natural ingredients. Making  your own natural products is customizable, and it's FUN! We will also learn about upcycling and reducing your footprint on the planet! Participants must be 8 years and older. The program costs $8//person for supplies.

Archery Basics

Learn how to use a bow and arrow in this fun, informative and free hands-on class!  Children must be 9 years old or above to participate and accompanied by an adult. Adults are welcome to participate as well! Park in Parking Lot A and meet at the Observatory. This event is weather permitting.

Join Naturalist Paige for a fun program on how animals stay cool in summer and then complete a watermelon-themed summer painting

This event is family friendly! All ages and abilities welcome to come learn and paint.
