Cervical Health Awareness Month

January is Cervical Health Awareness month.  Almost all cervical cancers (likely 91% in Iowa) are caused by Human Papillomavirus (HPV). Luckily, a vaccine is available to prevent these cervical cancers.  The Scott County Health Department offers HPV vaccine for uninsured and underinsured kids and teens through the Vaccine for Children (VFC) program.  Learn about the VFC program, immunization clinic hours, and information on other vaccines at: http://www.scottcountyiowa.com/health/immunization.

The Scott County Care for Yourself program provides free or low-cost Pap tests & also mammograms to low-income, uninsured women to help find early signs of cervical and breast cancer.  Contact Genesis VNA to learn more about the free services available for women:  563-421-1913 and http://www.genesishealth.com/care-treatment/cancer/resources/nbecc/
