Post Election Audit Show Same Results as Election Day Matson Received 211 Votes; Rawson Received 187 In Davenport Precinct 5-3

DAVENPORT – Scott County Auditor and Commissioner of Elections Roxanna Moritz announced the results of the post-election audit for the recently completed November 5, 2019 city / school election. The audit board counted votes for mayor in Davenport precinct 5-3 and tallied 211 votes for Mike Matson and 187 votes for Rita Rawson. This matched the results from election day.

Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate ordered a statewide audit of the results of the city / school election. His office randomly selected one precinct in each county to be audited. The audit was by hand recount of the first office on the ballot of the selected precinct.

An audit board appointed by Auditor Moritz hand counted the votes cast for Mayor of Davenport which was the first office on the ballot. The numbers of votes counted in the audit exactly matched the number of votes cast on election day. There were no write-ins in this precinct.

“I support auditing our election equipment to ensure its accuracy and to assure the public that we can rely on the equipment,” Moritz said. “We conducted a post election audit in 2018 and that audit resulted in the same count as on election day. So this is two audits demonstrating the accuracy of the equipment,” she said.
