Test of Scott County’s Wireless Emergency Alert System on December 30, 2023, at 01:00 PM. The Scott County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) will conduct a targeted, one-mile radius TEST of the Wireless Emergency Alert (WEA) system for cell phones in unincorporated Scott County, near 240th Street and 230th Avenue, (approximately 1.25 miles south of Lost Grove Lake). This test will be conducted on December 30, 2023, at 01:00 PM.

Low-interest federal disaster loans are available to Iowa businesses and residents affected by the Hotel Davenport Apartments building collapse that occurred May 28, announced Administrator Isabella Casillas Guzman of the U.S. Small Business Administration. On March 28, 2023 at 10:00 am, the Scott Emergency Communications Center will conduct an out-of-sequence test of emergency warning sirens in the communities of Eldridge, Long Grove and Park View, in Scott County, Iowa. These additional tests are required to test programming changes made in those communities for the system the system that triggers sirens during an actual emergency.

Today, February 7, 2023, during our normal monthly siren test, Scott Emergency Communications Center tested a new system for triggering outdoor warning sirens in Scott County. Sirens in three communities did not sound as expected during the test. Technicians immediately worked to troubleshoot.

With the upcoming winter storm, road conditions in Scott County could vary widely and vary depending upon the storm’s track & timing. Road conditions in some locations could be EXTREMELY treacherous and hazardous, especially in the rural areas of Scott County. The Scott County Emergency Management Agency, Scott County Sheriff’s Office and the Scott County Secondary Roads recommend residents to avoid travel and outdoor activity when possible. Be especially careful on sidewalks, decks, patios, outdoor stairs, and parking lots. Exercise extreme caution if you go outside. Remember as you begin to clear snow that the surface below could be icy and slippery. Slips and falls may happen.
