Media Release

In response to the severe weather events of July 11, 2025, Scott County Emergency Management Commission has declared a State of Emergency for the county. The State of Emergency authorizes certain response and recovery efforts throughout the community.

Scott County Emergency Management Agency advises the community of the following information:

  • Due to high water levels, individuals are requested to avoid recreational activities on area creeks, streams and rivers at this time. Please exercise caution around any waters while water levels remain high. Monitoring of creeks, stream and river water levels has indicated that some waters are receding, but until the levels normalize, the fast-moving water could pose a danger for these activities.
  • Damage assessment teams are currently canvassing Scott County to gain an initial estimate of storm-related damages. Please be aware that these teams will be taking photos of damaged properties from marked Scott County vehicles. They will not ask homeowners for information, or ask homeowners to sign any documents related to the damage assessment process.
  • Homeowners are encouraged to use EXTREME caution of persons offering contracted support to conduct residential cleanup, repairs, or debris removal.  You are encouraged NOT to sign any contract or agreement without checking with your insurance company first.
  • In conjunction with local partners, the need for donations is currently being assessed. If monetary or goods donation is needed, Scott County Emergency Management Agency will issue a separate public release.
  • Free clean up kits will be available today (July 12, 2025) at the Salvation Army, 2200 5th Ave, Moline from 1pm – 4pm. Beginning July 14, 2025 clean up kits will be available at Salvation Army locations in both Moline and Davenport (100 Kirkwood Blvd) during normal business hours.

Additional Information regarding storm recovery will be issued throughout the day today, Saturday, July 12, 2025. Please monitor Scott County Emergency Management Agency’s Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/ScottCoIAEMA) and website (https://www.scottcountyiowa.gov/ema) for additional updates and information.
