Step 3: Informal Review

After assessment notices have been mailed annually, between April 2 - April 25 property owners protesting their assessment can request an informal assessment review and work directly with the Assessor’s Office.

This review gives property owners an opportunity to try to reach an agreement with the Assessor’s Office if warranted. No further action is required by the property owner.

Even If an agreement is met during the informal review period the property owner does not lose the right to protest to the Board of Review

To assist the Assessor, owners should be willing to:

  • Schedule an interior inspection with appraisal staff.
  • Provide any recent appraisals.
  • Provide proof of any inaccurate data.
  • Provide reasons assessed value is inaccurate.
    • Why property wouldn't sell for the current assessed value?
  • Any other proof requested.

How to Start:

Contact the County Assessor between April 2 - April 25.
