Candidate Filing Begins for Davenport City Primary 2025

DAVENPORT – Scott County Auditor Kerri Tompkins announced the filing period begins today to be on the ballot for the City of Davenport. “I encourage interested candidates to turn in their packets early and to review the resources available on our website,” said Tompkins. Davenport is the only city in Scott County that may have a primary election. The filing deadline for Davenport is 5:00 pm on Thursday, August 28.

Scott County offices will be closed Monday, September 1, 2025 in observation of Labor Day. Have a safe Labor Day weekend.

The Auditor’s Office is aware of a letter recently sent to voters in Scott County indicating the person may not be registered to vote. 

These letters were NOT sent by the Auditor’s Office or the Secretary of State’s Office and may not be accurate.

DAVENPORT – Scott County Auditor Kerri Tompkins announced today the Candidate Guide is available via the Iowa Secretary of State’s Office for the City-School Election this fall and can be found at their website. “I encourage candidates to turn in their packets early in the filing period to allow time for any concerns. We also have great resources linked to our website, elections.scottcountyiowa.gov/candidates, including a video that explains how to review the full process with specific details,” shared Tompkins. 

Scott County Auditor Kerri Tompkins announced the period to submit requests for absentee ballots by mail for the October 7 City of Davenport Primary Election, if applicable, begins Tuesday, July 29. Iowa law allows county auditors to accept absentee ballot requests no more than 70 days before an election. “Please plan ahead if you know you will not be able to vote in-person on October 7,” said Tompkins.

Scott County Auditor Announces Deadlines for Absentee Ballot Requests for the Davenport City Primary Election, October 7 and City School Election, November 4
