Job Summary

Provides customer service at a location of the Scott County Library System. Work involves assisting patrons by performing circulation duties and all desk procedures. This is a part time position, averaging 7 hours per week, $16.66 per hour. This position will be primarily based at the Walcott Branch but could include hours at other branch locations. The regular schedule is Tuesday 2-7 and every other Saturday 9-1.

Job Responsibilities

Provides direct high quality customer service.

Responsible for handling all steps of patron services to include library card registration, placing requests for books and information, search and retrieval of materials, checking in and out materials, and assisting with computer troubleshooting.

Responsible for learning and applying Scott County Library System policies and procedures.

Maintains all records accurately to include statistical data and cash handling.

Responsible for providing reader's advisory services and for planning and implementing programs as a branch facility

Opens and closes assigned branch library

Shelves materials accurately and straightens shelves. ?Cleans library as needed

Advises and reports branch issues to supervisor.

Other duties as assigned and/or needed.

Standards for Initial Consideration

Education:

High school diploma or GED required

Work Experience:

Minimum of two years of customer service skills required. Previous library experience desired.

Essential Skills:

Ability to provide high quality customer service to patrons of all ages.

Ability to operate office equipment.

Proficiency with computers.

Ability to effectively convey information to members of the public and other members of the library team.

Ability to keep accurate records and to handle cash transactions.

Ability to work independently.

Ability to complete detail oriented tasks.

This is a part time union eligible position.
