This position is responsible for the management and oversight of the Scott County Library System?s public service operations.
Oversees information services and schedules staff at the Information Desk
Oversees circulation operations
Mediates and resolves complicated patron issues
Hires, trains, supervises and evaluates designated employees
Coordinates training of all new hires
Collaborates with other library staff to assign and coordinate work duties
Provides reference and reader?s advisory services
Responsible for selection of library materials within specified collections
Responsible for database selection and maintenance
Works collaboratively with other members of the library team to generate, plan and implement programming at Scott County Library locations and out in the community
Assists patrons with library services
Represents the library on consortium committees and at public events
Periodically serves as supervisor on duty
Other duties as assigned
Education:
Requires a Master?s degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited library school
Work Experience:
At least two years of experience working in public library setting
Essential Skills:
Experience in supervising staff
Excellent problem-solving skills
Ability to pay close attention to detail
Proficiency with computers
Ability to coordinate multiple tasks and prioritize to meet deadlines
Ability to effectively convey information to members of the public and other members of the library team
Ability to work independently but also as a critical member of the library team
Knowledge of and experience with reference services
Excellent customer service skills.
This is a full time position. The schedule will include days, nights and rotating weekend hours. Work is performed under the direction of the Library Director.
