Job Title: Seasonal Day Camp Counselor

Salary: $12.50 to $14.50 per hour

Job Summary

Under general supervision, the Day Camp Counselor provides care, supervision and program facilitation for assigned day camp attendees.

Job Responsibilities

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

Provides direct and shared supervision of up to 60 children (ages 6 to 12), in activities, crafts, songs, skits, games, hiking, field trips, scavenger hunts, swimming, and cook outs.

Adheres to safe work conditions; reports potential hazards to supervisor.

Performs first aid and/or CPR if necessary

Demonstrates the ability to exemplify, by his/her actions, the County PRIDE philosophy.

Performs related duties as assigned.

Standards for Initial Consideration

Education, Training, and Experience Guidelines:
High school diploma or GED equivalent; AND some previous experience working with children between the ages of 6-12; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Knowledge of:
Applicable local, State, and Federal laws, codes, regulations, and ordinances.

Safety policies, procedures, and practices.

Appropriate activities for children.

Customer service principles, practices, and etiquette.

Skill in:
Demonstrating patience and creativity needed to work with the appropriate age group.

Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships.

Communicating effectively verbally and in writing.

Supplemental Information

License and Certification Requirements
Must be CPR/First Aid certified or have the ability to obtain certification after hire.

Physical Demands and Working Environment:
Work is performed outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
