Under basic supervision, the Seasonal Skilled Maintenance Worker performs and assists in road, grounds, equipment and building maintenance at Glynns Creek Golf Course, Scott County Park, West Lake Park, or other locations as assigned. Assists with installation and maintenance of electrical and plumbing utilities within County park system.

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Performs repair/maintenance work on park buildings and facilities including, but not limited to: carpentry repairs related to roofing, supports, siding, playground and camping structures, finishing work on remodel or building projects; fabrication and repair of all park signage; light welding repairs.
Performs ground maintenance work including, but not limited to: mowing, cutting brush, hauling gravel and garbage; grading, sanding and plowing roads; making minor repairs to roads or trails.
Performs basic plumbing activities such as installing sinks, toilets, cleaning drains, soldering leaks, replacing pipes and other minor routine plumbing repairs.
Operates heavy trucks and commercial mowing equipment to maintain grounds, perform garbage pick-up, plow snow and haul materials.
Makes recommendations for and orders repair parts or supplies for building/grounds maintenance, with appropriate authority from supervisor.
Assists in new construction of small structures utilizing blueprints and building plans. May design small building or repair projects, determine necessary materials and submit to supervisor for approval.
Provides work direction of seasonal staff in performance of grounds maintenance or special repair/building projects.
Demonstrates the ability to exemplify, by his/her actions, the County PRIDE philosophy.
Performs related duties as assigned.
Education, Training, and Experience Guidelines:
High school diploma or GED equivalent; AND two (2) years of training in a vocational, trade school or an electrical, plumbing or carpentry apprenticeship; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Knowledge of:
Applicable local, State, and Federal laws, codes, regulations, and ordinances.
Work safety policies, procedures, and practices.
Tools, materials, equipment, and methods used for general grounds and facilities maintenance.
Skill in:
Interacting tactfully and professionally with County staff and the public.
Operating a variety of tools and equipment safely.
Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships.
Communicating effectively verbally and in writing.
License and Certification Requirements
Must possess a valid driver's license, a Class A Commercial driver's license is preferred.
Physical Demands and Working Environment:
Work is performed outdoors and requires exposure to potentially dangerous tools and equipment and inclement weather conditions.
May be required to lift and move objects weighing up to 100 pounds.
