Job Summary

This is a customer service and clerical position that is responsible for assisting patrons and handling all desk procedures involved in the circulation of materials at the Scott County Library System.

This position is based at the Eldridge Branch but may include other branch locations. This position will include day, evening and weekend hours averaging 21 hours per week.

Job Responsibilities

Provides direct high quality customer service.

Responsible for handling all steps of patron services to include library card registration, placing requests for books and information, search and retrieval of materials, checking in and out materials, and assisting with computer troubleshooting.

Assists patrons with questions, promotes library services and programs, shelves materials in correct order and cleans library area as needed.

Processes cash transactions accurately and maintains financial records and statistical data.

Responsible for learning and applying the policies and procedures of the Scott County Library System.

Other duties as assigned and/or needed.

Standards for Initial Consideration

Education:

High school diploma or GED required.

Work Experience:

Minimum of two years of customer service skills required. Previous library experience desired.

Essential Skills:

Attention to detail.

Ability to learn and follow adopted library procedures.

Ability to operate office equipment.

Proficiency with computers.

Ability to effectively convey information to members of the public and to other members of the library team.

Ability to work independently.
