Job Title: Electronic Systems Technician

Under general supervision, the Electronic Systems Technician performs technical, digital and electronic systems installation, integration, and maintenance duties. Assists with maintaining complex automated systems at all county facilities, including the County Jail and Juvenile Detention Center (JDC).

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Assists with the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of automated security systems to include programmable logic controllers, networks, cameras, intercom stations, control computers, wireless and wired alarms, electric doors, and other facilities operation equipment.
Installs CCTV systems; maintains all cameras and; determines and tracks network layouts; assigns, monitors, and maintains IP address infrastructure with different VLANs; reviews systems for any updates; installs and documents all updates.
Assists with setting up, creating, and configuring remote client computers; engages appropriate staff and vendors to implement proper solutions needed for each station.
Responds to calls for service both in secure detention facilities, other campuses, and remote locations; follows up to ensure issues have been resolved.
Performs system upgrades and may assist with training staff with the use of various systems including but not limited to digital signage, data loggers, courtroom, office, conference room audio visual systems, panic alarm systems, fire alarms, gas suppression systems, metals detectors, and wireless systems.
Performs preventive maintenance on County owned equipment. Changes filters, cleans and calibrates digital controls and thermostats. Maintains emergency generators, and uninterruptible power supplies.
Monitors HVAC equipment, and performs required testing and routine maintenance as necessary.
Performs mechanical, electronic or electrical repair such as electrical equipment, devices, and fixtures.
Repairs and rebuilds electronic and mechanical security door systems.
Monitors building automated systems for all of the Counties properties. Ensures proper temperature in buildings and identifies equipment faults. Adjusts boiler schedules to obtain proper temperatures and occupant comfort. Checks fire panels for faults, checks intruder alarm panels.
Operates County vehicles, snow plows, skid steer, forklift and other motor driven equipment. Responsible for snow removal and salting on all County owned parking lots, sidewalks and driveways. Responds to snow call-ins as may be necessary.
Performs basic plumbing duties
Demonstrates the ability to exemplify, by his/her actions, the County PRIDE philosophy.
Performs related duties as assigned.
Education, Training, and Experience Guidelines:
Vocational or two-year technical training; AND one (1) year of experience maintaining and installing electronic and digital systems and equipment; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Knowledge of:
Applicable local, State, and Federal laws, codes, regulations, and ordinances.
Work safety policies, procedures, and practices.
Hardware and software troubleshooting methods.
CCTV systems and peripheral equipment and software.
Jail security systems, equipment, and related software.
Skill in:
Testing and configuring complex hardware and software systems.
Reading and correctly interpreting blueprints, schematics, and user manuals.
Staying up-to-date with new technology, software, and hardware changes and trends.
Maintaining accurate records and documentation.
Interacting tactfully and professionally with County staff, outside agencies, and vendors.
Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships.
Communicating effectively verbally and in writing.
License and Certification Requirements
Must possess a valid Driver's license.
Physical Demands and Working Environment:
Work is performed indoors and outdoors at various County facilities, including detention facilities with inmates present.
May be exposed to extreme hot and cold temperatures, potentially dangerous tools, equipment, machinery, potential physical harm from inmates, hazardous chemicals, electrical shock, and infectious diseases.
Required to climb ladders, operate aerial lifts, work in confined spaces, and lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
Incumbent may be required to be available or "on-call" during off-duty hours.
