Job Summary

This position is responsible for providing excellent customer service and for developing, planning, promoting and directing programs and outreach services for the Scott County Library System.

Job Responsibilities

MAJOR DUTIES:

Develops, plans, promotes and implements outreach activities

Increases visibility and community engagement for the Scott County Library System

Schedules people and resources within outreach services

Works collaboratively with other members of the library team to generate, plan and implement programming at Scott County Library locations and out in the community

Creates library marketing plan and materials and directs library promotional and social media activities

Creates and maintains community partnerships with schools, care centers and other agencies, and represents the library at public events

Provides reference and reader?s advisory services

Assists patrons with library services

Represents the library on consortium committees and at public events

Evaluates patron needs and develops the tools and services to meet those needs

Responsible for selection of library materials within specified collections

Maintains statistics and prepares usage reports

Drives the bookmobile

Maintains vehicle logs and maintenance records

Periodically serves as supervisor on duty

Other duties as assigned

Standards for Initial Consideration

Education:

Requires a Master?s degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited library school or graduate level courses in Library Science and work experience in a public library setting.

Work Experience:

Knowledge of public libraries

Essential Skills:

Must maintain a valid driver?s license, clean driving record and be able to drive the bookmobile

Excellent problem-solving skills

Ability to pay close attention to detail

Proficiency with computers

Ability to coordinate multiple tasks and prioritize to meet deadlines

Ability to effectively convey information to members of the public and other members of the library team

Ability to work independently but also as a critical member of the library team

Knowledge of and experience with reference services

Knowledge of marketing platforms, channels and best practices

Excellent customer service skills

Supplemental Information

This is a full-time position based at the Eldridge Branch and the schedule will include days, nights and rotating weekend hours. Work is performed under the direction of the Library Director.
