Under general supervision, the Community Health Consultant supports the provision of health promotion, public safety, and disease prevention services in Scott County through the collection and analysis of information and planning of public health goals and partnerships.
$27.63/hr - $32.04/hr to start depending on qualifications.

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Facilitates development of grant applications and completion of contract requirements; participates in planning and development for new and existing programs.
Organizes and facilitates the development of program specific health education and outreach campaigns using multiple types of media.
Conducts quality assurance activities for programs and services including audits of program, billing and patient records.
Develops, evaluates, updates, and exercises local public health preparedness plans internally and externally.
Oversees Scott County Health Department's social media platforms; maintains department website content.
Manages program-related data systems and software; provides technical support; coordinates outside technical support.
Facilitates community health needs assessments and improvement plans for the department, programs, and contracts.
Participates in a variety of meetings and committees as appropriate or requested; serves as a liaison to external agencies and organizations to represent the health department's responsibilities and provide assistance when need.
Maintains documents and files; updates database information to document program activities.
Participates in department efforts related to accreditation/reaccreditation, performance management, quality improvement, and workforce development.
May act as a public information officer for the health department by answering requests from the public and news media outlets; participates in determining which staff member would best represent the health department in speaking on the particular topic; prepares the spokesperson for interviews.
Orders and maintains an inventory of all program and marketing supplies.
Demonstrates the ability to exemplify, by his/her actions, the County PRIDE philosophy.
Performs related duties as assigned.
Education, Training, and Experience Guidelines:
Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Health Science, or related field; AND two (2) years of experience in public health which includes one (1) year of planning experience; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Master's level degree preferred.
Knowledge of:
Applicable local, State, and Federal laws, codes, regulations, and ordinances.
Grant and contract planning, implementation, and assurances.
Project management principles and practices.
Social media platforms.
Marketing and public relations principles, practices, and methods.
Health and data literacy.
Quality assurance methods used in public health programs.
Skill in:
Delivering informational presentations to large and small groups of a diverse age and background.
Interacting tactfully and professionally with County staff, outside agencies, and the public.
Analyzing data and information related to an issue to develop reasonable solutions.
Working effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Operating a computer including standard software and some specialized software.
Navigating social media platforms and posts.
Developing and implementing public health preparedness plans.

Physical Demands and Working Environment:
Work is performed in a standard office environment and at various locations throughout Scott County.
May be required to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
