Under general supervision, the Platroom Specialist maintains and researches property records and ownership information. Provides information and assistance to customers regarding property ownership and legal descriptions.

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Researches recorded deeds, contracts, and other property conveyances using platbooks, deed and transfer books, Tax Systems, and historical records.
Verifies documents to confirm legal descriptions for completeness and accuracy and verification of correct ownership interests.
Verifies accuracy of ownership and legal descriptions in Tax System
Enters and updates property transfer information into digital transfer book records.
Assists the public with phone and counter inquiries regarding property taxes, ownership information, legal descriptions, assessed value information.
Assists the public and Attorneys with inquiries and researching books and Tax Systems.
Prepares affidavits for name changes due to marriage, divorce, and surviving spouse; may serve as a notary public.
Demonstrates the ability to exemplify, by his/her actions, the County PRIDE philosophy.
Performs related duties as assigned.
Education, Training, and Experience Guidelines:
High school diploma or GED equivalent; AND two (2) years of previous real estate or paralegal experience; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Knowledge of:
Applicable local, State, and Federal laws, codes, regulations, and ordinances.
State laws related to real estate and legal description.
Property tax and GIS systems.
Records maintenance and retention policies, procedures, and practices.
Customer service etiquette and practices.
Skill in:
Analyzing graphic and numeric information.
Conducting research and compiling data.
Maintaining accurate records and filing systems.
Operating a computer including standard software and some specialized software.
Reading and interpreting legal descriptions and land surveys.
Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships.
Communicating effectively verbally and in writing.
