Buffalo Bill Cody Homestead
Bluff Road, LeClaire, Iowa

See the home built by Isaac Cody in 1847. The house is made of native limestone and has walnut floors and trim. It is decorated with typical mid-19th century items. Buffalo, burros and long horn cattle still graze the land around the homestead.

Open daily 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., April through October.

Admission: Adults $2, 16 and under free.


Walnut Grove Pioneer Village
Located on the north side of Scott County Park

Fourteen historic buildings brought together for your enjoyment, this village is a typical 1900's Scott County settlement. Historically significant buildings from sites in Scott County dot the three-acre area. Visit the Ehlers Blacksmith Shop, which remains on its original site and still contains its original tools and bellows. Or see the Butler Township Schoolhouse with slate blackboards and old geography maps. Tour all the buildings and relive the Pioneer Days!

Open daily 8:00 a.m. to dusk, April through October.

Admission: $2 Adults, $1 Kids, Under 5 Free. Fee charged for events and tours.


Buffalo Bill Cody Birthplace
Located just outside of LeClaire, Iowa on Territorial Road

Site of the birthplace of William Frederick Cody, son of Isaac and Mary Cody. The cabin is gone and the land at the site is owned by a local farmer.

Look for the plaque marking the original site of Buffalo Bill's childhood home in the 100 block on the west side of North Cody Road.

This museum sits along the banks of the Mississippi River where Buffalo Bill Cody must have played and swam as a child living in LeClaire. It holds many treasures from Buffalo Bill's era, in addition to an area devoted solely to Buffalo Bill Cody artifacts. See an authentic painting of Buffalo Bill and his horse, the deed from the sale of Isaac Cody's land in Scott County and much more.

Long Grove Church Graveyard
First and Oak Streets, Long Grove, Iowa

The grave site of Samuel Cody, Buffalo Bill Cody's older brother, is located in the historic Long Grove Church Graveyard. While living in rural Scott County, Samuel was thrown from a horse and killed.
