Lake Restoration Notice:

The Beach and Boathouse at West Lake Park are closed for the season. We look forward to re-opening these activities in 2021 after completing the lake restoration project.

All other activities will remain open, including the campgrounds, shelters, cabins, disc golf course and trails.

West Lake Park

West Lake Park.

West Lake Park is a 620 acre facility offering four lakes for fishing and/or swimming. A boat dock, parking lot, handicap fishing dock, beach area, and paddle boat rentals are available for the water enthusiast. For the landlubbers - the park offers picnic facilities, playground areas, modern restrooms and two campground areas with electrical, water, and/or sewer hook-ups. Both camping areas have handicap accessible comfort stations.

This program is FULL.

Join the Wapsi River staff for an adventure with kayaks. Whether you are a beginner or regular kayaker, come out to learn the basics. Program includes all equipment use, covers safety, techniquies, and taking a tour of Pride Lake. You may bring your own vessel/PFD, though it must comply with IADNR regulations.

Reminders: This program is determined by weather and site conditions. Weight capacity loads are 250-300 lbs./solo and 425-475 lbs./tandem. Dress appropriately and bring water.

Visitors are reminded to strictly abide to the social distancing rules and not gather in groups of more than 10. Remember to stay home if you feel sick, wash your hands regularly, avoid touching your face, and bring supplies from home including disinfecting wipes, hand sanitizer and other hygiene products.

Learn about the cause and effect of the decline in bee populations through the Great Sunflower project .  You get to participate in a pollinator count and then make an insect hotel that you can take home and install in your own garden using recyclable items.  Please bring empty 1 or 2 liter bottles of empty soup or pasta cans for the insect hotels. Registration is required. Please call to register.

Come out to the Wapsi to dispel the myths and legends of bats! We will have several opportunities and activities throughout the evening (weather - dependent) on June 13th. Registration is Required.


6 - 7p ~ Cook your own dinner with hotdogs and fixings provided by Friends of the Wapsi. Please bring your own drinks.

7 - 8p ~ Build a Bat House. $10 / house. Limited number of kits available MUST pre-register. If you are not building a bat house, feel free to tour the Eagle View Eco Center! Tour is free! Campfire will remain available for S'mores!

Man and woman are a 2 person team and play 9 holes in an alternate shot format and scored using a modified stable ford scoring system. The event is flighted by the number of teams signed up each night. Men play from the white tees and women play from the red tees. Cost (subject to change) is $55.00 per couple and includes green fee, cart fee, prizes and a cookout after play. This is intended to be a fun night and beginners are encouraged to participate.
