Scott County Recorder, COVID 19 Update

Scott County Recorder, Rita Vargas, is committed to her responsibility to care for the most vulnerable residents in our County and during these unprecedented times the Recorder’s Office will continue to provide these essential services in a manner that protects our employees and the public. This is a continuously evolving situation and we will continue to modify our operations always with the health and safety of our employees and the public as our priority.

While our office is closed to the public for on-site visits, we are conducting business via mail and drop box. The drop box is located in Administration Building parking lot closest to Gaines Street.

  • Passport acceptance services are suspended. For more information call the National Passport Information Center at 1(877) 487-2778.
  • Real estate recordings can be done by e-submission through Iowa Land Records, mail, or the County drop box.
  • Mailed requests for certified copies of births, deaths, marriages, marriage license applications, boat renewals, and boat/off road vehicle registrations are no longer same day service due to the inability to comply with social distancing protocol. For your convenience the applications for a vital record request, marriage license application, and boat registration are on the county website under the Recorder’s tab.
