Scott County Volunteers in Police Services Program (VIPS)
VIPS Members serve the Scott County Sheriff's Office and community by:
- Providing traffic control assistance during traffic accidents, special events, parades, etc.
- Assist stranded motorists on public streets and highways.
- Remove debris from streets and highways
- Other low priority job tasks as assigned by the shift supervisor
The minimum standards for becoming a VIPS member are:
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Ability to exemplify, by his or her actions, the County's PRIDE philosophy
- Must possess a valid Driver's license.
- Must be able to lift up to 50lbs, stand for an extended period of time, and operate a county owned vehicle safely.
- Must be able to pass a thorough background check and be of good moral character.
