Iowa Code 50.15 states: "The jail administrator shall establish a written policy and procedure to assure inmates the opportunity to receive necessary medical attention for illness and injury and necessary dental care."

Scott County Jail provides medical and dental services to all inmates. Sick call is conducted on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

The Health Department has staffed the jail with one doctor, a health coordinator, four full-time nurses, full medical assistant, and a resource assistant. Medical care is available 24 hours a day.
