Local Public Health Services Grant

The Local Public Health Services Grant provides funding to each Iowa county to support local programs that help Iowans engage in healthy behaviors, improve access to health services, and strengthen public health infrastructure. In Scott County, the majority of funding is directed toward meeting the in home health and nursing needs of Scott County residents.

In Scott County, the Board of Health has a contract with Genesis Visiting Nurse Association to provide:

  • Skilled Nursing Services
    Skilled and specialized nursing care using an individualized plan care coordinated with the patient, family and physician.
  • Home Care Aide Home Helper Services
    Assistance with personal care and bathing, range of motion exercises, dressing changes and medication reminders.
  • Home Care Aide Personal Care Services
    House cleaning, laundry service, shopping for essentials and meal preparation.
  • Tuberculosis (TB) Screening
    TB testing, direct observation therapy and preventative maintenance therapy for Scott County TB patients.
  • Health Promotion Services
    Health promotion visits focus on disease prevention and promotion of positive health behaviors, health education, and prolonged life. The target populations are mothers and children.
